W Sound

W Sound is a Colombian collaborative music project and session series created by streamer and content creator Westcol (Luis Fernando Villa Álvarez) and producer Ovy On the Drums (Daniel Echavarría Oviedo). Similar in concept to Bizarrap’s Music Sessions, it serves as a platform that pairs established and emerging urban artists with Ovy’s production for original tracks released under the W Sound name. Background The project launched in 2024 and is based in Medellín, Colombia. Westcol, one of Latin America’s most prominent streamers, contributes the community-driven selection of guest artists and promotional platform, while Ovy On the Drums—known for his work with artists such as Karol G, Anuel AA, and Quevedo—handles production. The sessions are typically tied to Westcol’s live streams and have been released through Warner Music Latina in partnership with Big Ligas. W Sound quickly established itself within the Latin urban scene by blending classic and contemporary reggaeton with other rhythmic influences such as dancehall and afrobeats, depending on the featured artist. Notable Releases The series began with Soltera (W Sound 01) featuring Blessd in 2024, which achieved significant streaming success. Subsequent sessions have included collaborations with Valka (Mi Novio Tiene Novia (W Sound 02)), Ryan Castro (SQ (W Sound 04)), Beéle (La Plena (W Sound 05) — the project’s biggest hit with over a billion streams), Dei V, Cris MJ, Kris R., Myke Towers, and J Balvin (Godzila (W Sound 09)). Impact W Sound has become one of the most successful session formats in Latin urban music, regularly generating high streaming numbers and chart performance across Latin America and beyond.
